Restore

During our Sunday service, a couple of our members shared some words they received from the Lord. The word that kept coming up was "Restore." Ronnie Lewallen also received a message related to this, and we believe it will benefit the entire community to hear. Please take a minute to read the word he had below!

As Kaitlyn sang Sunday through the spirit about being restored and healed.  The word restored hit my spirit. The Lord led me to the job site and compared spiritual things with work, as He often does.

Restoration is different from remodeling or renovation.  Restoration isn't changing a thing's purpose. That's remodeling.  Restoration isn't just cleaning up and fixing up with no changes; that's renovation.

Restoration is required when something has been damaged to the point that it doesn't function as intended.  In the case of a home, we are the home of the Holy Spirit.

Step #1 in restoration is REMOVAL or DEMO DAY of damaged things. Drywall stripped off where it got wet, insulation,  framing,  electrical, trims, and cabinets.

Ezekiel 36:26 NLT

And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart.

Our heart must be willing to be restored. We have to come to a place of complete surrender, understanding the things we have been doing in our own might; the attitudes and mindsets we have chosen to live in have led to damage that needs to be removed.  We have to come to a point of FULL surrender, willing to let Him remove some stuff. Holy Spirit likely has already been showing you, pointing out things in your life and heart that need to be cut away and REMOVED.

Step#2 is TREATMENT or cleansing

After removal, these verses are where we should be.

Psalms 119:25   I lie in the dust; revive me by your word.

John 15:3 NLT You have already been pruned and purified by the message I have given you.

Ephesians 5:26 NLT   to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word.

Before we start putting things back together after Demo day, we need to treat the wet walls with mold inhibitor and dry them out, or smoke-filled walls have to be sealed up with special paint to prevent smells from coming back.  God's word has to be our purification and treatment.  It prevents the mold and smoke smells from where we were in life and the damage that occurred from coming back.  God's word and (Holy Spirit) must become the light unto our feet.  He must be our compass and the only voice we follow. This is part of restoration.   He wants to make sure there's no mold cropping up and no smoke still on you. We are purified by following his word, his voice.

Step #3 is REPAIR

After Removal and treatment come repairs.  The fun part.  We are putting it back to its original form.   This process is painstaking. It takes a lot of shopping for floors that match,  paint to match, trim to match, and cabinets to match.  Oftentimes, things are completely removed and replaced if they can't be matched back and always to the same if not higher quality than before.  We can't just partially paint a wall or a ceiling.  No, in order to be right, the entire area or room has to be painted. No halfway. When we do floors, the entire room is done, not just the piece that got wet.

When God repairs, he is the same.   He wants to touch it ALL, not just a piece. He wants to restore love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,  gentleness, and self-control.   He wants to give you an OEM heart that is tender and responsive. He wants all your repairs OEM, which is an original equipment manufacturer part. Complete restoration to a childlike heart, one that hasn't been damaged.  That's what his repairs look like.

Full restoration requires REMOVAL, CLEANSING, and REPAIRS.

He wants to restore you fully with a new, original manufacturer's heart.  Not just so you can be made whole but so you can begin to bring others into full Restoration, as this verse says.

Psalms 51:12-13 NLT

Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and make me willing to obey you. Then I will teach your ways to rebels, and they will return to you.

Luke 21:6 NLT.    “The time is coming when all these things will be completely demolished. Not one stone will be left on top of another!”

Hebrews 12:27 NLT.   This means that all of creation will be shaken and removed so that only unshakable things will remain.

He wants to tear down and rebuild to make us an unshakeable thing. That regardless of what comes our way, we stand.  When everything around us fails and falls, we stand because we have been rebuilt to be unshakeable.
